1. Fill up your car or truck in the morning when the temperature is still cool. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground; and the colder the ground, the denser the gasoline. When it gets warmer gasoline expands, so if you’re filling up in the afternoon or in the evening, what should be a gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and temperature of the fuel (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products) are significant.Every truckload that we load is temperature-compensated so that the indicated gallonage is actually the amount pumped. A one-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for businesses, but service stations don’t have temperature compensation at their pumps.

2. If a tanker truck is filling the stations tank at the time you want to buy gas, do not fill up; most likely dirt and sludge in the tank is being stirred up when gas is being delivered, and you might be transferring that dirt from the bottom of their tank into your car’s tank.

3. Fill up when your gas tank is half-full (or half-empty), because the more gas you have in your tank the less air there is and gasoline evaporates rapidly, especially when it’s warm. (Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating ‘roof’membrane to act as a barrier between the gas and the atmosphere, thereby minimizing evaporation.)

4. If you look at the trigger you’ll see that it has three delivery settings: slow, medium and high. When you’re filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to the high setting. You should be pumping at the slow setting, thereby minimizing vapors created while you are pumping. Hoses at the pump are corrugated; the corrugations act as a return path for vapor recovery from gas that already has been metered. If you are pumping at the high setting, the agitated gasoline contains more vapor, which is being sucked back into the underground tank, so you’re getting less gas for your money. Hope this will help ease your ‘pain at the pump’!

A moment ago, I was browsing MPH Online and I found out that they are one of the merchant support secure online shopping with Verified by Visa. Guess what ? Although most merchant only stated that they accept Credit Cards or Bank Transfer only, you can always try using your Debit Card to purchase stuffs through these merchant’s website. I’ve already already made a few purchases online using Debit Card already.

Anyway, back to MPH. My youngest sister’s birthday is coming soon. Since I won’t be going back to hometown till next month, I decided to purchase some books for her online and have it delivered straight to my house. I bought 3 books for her and 2 books for myself.

This is what I bought earlier.

1. Popular Chinese Idioms

2. Origins of Chinese Names

3. Ratatouille : The Junior Novel

4. Instant Japanese

5. Instant Thai

Books 1 & 2 are from AsiaPac and it’s more like comics. Ratatouille… well I bet everyone knows what’s that right ? He he… My sis is reading Musical High School 2 novel at the moment.

Um, those languages books are for me. I’m not planning to get a bride from Thailand or Japan tho. Just simply buying them to learn a word or two. Who knows right ? I might need it if ever visit any one of those countries. I don’t wanna act like a chicken when I only wanted to buy a piece of Fried Chicken. =p

Verified by Visa is a system used by Visa as an added layer of security for online credit and debit cards transactions. A similar system is used by MasterCard under the name SecureCode (which is completely separate from verified by Visa, although it uses the same protocol).

“Verified by Visa” and “SecureCode” both are being introduced in conjunction with EMV as a means of shifting responsibility for fraud away from the credit card companies and also introducing more secure transactions, where the party not implementing the technology in question is held responsible for money lost due to fraud.

A transaction using Verified by Visa/SecureCode will initiate a redirect to the website of the card issuing bank to authorize the transaction either using private personal details kept by the bank, a user-chosen password, or, more securely, a one-time password. The Verified by Visa protocol recommends the bank’s verification page to load in an inline frame session. In this way, the bank’s systems can be held responsible for most security breaches.

A lot of people started to use Debit cards nowadays. Currently there are 2 commonly used card in Malaysia which is the Public Bank Visa Electron & Ambank NexG prepaid Credit Card.

I’ve decided to make this guide because a lot of people PMed me in Lowyat Forum on How to reload their Public Bank Visa Electron card. It will be easier for me to ask them refer to this post instead of repeating the steps all over again.

Anyway, to reload your Visa Electron via Internet Banking, you need to have at least 1 Savings or Current Account linked to your Internet Banking account before you proceed to the next step.

Step 1. Point your browser to https://www2.pbebank.com/main.html

Step 2. Enter your login ID and password

Step 3. After logging on, you’ll be brought to you internet banking account page.

Step 4. Notice the menu on the left. There is a link for Payment/Recharge. Click on it.

Step 5. You’ll notice another sets of links available to you. Under the Credit/Debit Card payment category, click To Own Accounts.

Step 6. Next, choose the account that you’ll be transfering the funds from and the debit card account you are transfering funds to. Then enter the amount that you want to transfer and click Next

Step 7. After clicking Next, you will see a confirmation page. Make sure all the details is correct before before clicking Confirm. Else, click back if you need to change anything.

Final step. Upon confirming your transfer, you’ll be shown the status of the transfer. If the transaction is accepted, Congratz! You’ve successfully reload your Debit Card.

If there’s anything that you don’t understand, feel free to leave a question of comment. Cheers!

p/s : If you plan to put this on your site, please at least give me a credit or put a link back to me. I put a lot of effort and time in making this guide. Thanks.
