Because I couldn’t get into international sites, I stumbled onto a lot of good local blogs. I was reading AhYap’s blog just now. I totally agree to his tagline. ” Better than reading newspaper” . A definately must visit site… but be aware, this site is made for people with “big hearts” only.

Finally down to 3 papers. I guess I can graduate this may. HOPEFULLY! I don’t wanna stay in TARC any longer. I just wanna get that darn cert and move on wih my life. Had enough with study. I’m not exactly those type of people who really like studying. I don’t know why. Maybe I’m just lazy.

Seriously, I haven’t thought of what I’m going to do after I graduate. I wonder what can I do. If I can graduate after this semester, then I’ll probably have 3 qualification other than my SPM qualification. Hmmm… let me see. I have completed a management short course, got a Certificate of E-Commerce from NCC, UK, and hopefully a Diploma in Marketing & E-Commerce from TARC.

The problem is… I’m not really interested in Marketing. Well, E-Commerce is just part of my interest. I always wanted to start my own E-Business but don’t know where to start. There’s just too many things to consider. Actually, my main interest is IT. In fact, I’m sort of an IT enthusiast. I used to be a computer technician and trainer for thoses students who came to my ex-company to do their industrial training.

Sarcastically, I believe I’m the only PC Technical Support Centre that works 24/7 and doesn’t get paid. I have people calling me even in the middle of the night just because their computer broke down or their modem doesn’t dial. Geez… come on. Give me a break will ya ? I have a life and I need to sleep too. I wouldn’t mind helping but at least let me sleep in peace before I put all my energy to work for free. If it’s for charity, I guess I won’t mind. But taking me for granted is something that I can’t tolerate. In fact, who would tolerate that ?

Sheeeshh… I’ve got a bigger problem now. It’s already 5:47am in the morning. This is the second night I stayed up till so “early”. I’ve been trying to figure out what has gone wrong with my forum. What could be wrong that caused all the links in the forum can’t be accessed at all. I guess I screwed up big time.

All because I wanted to fix a small error on my forum, which at the end caused more problem to come one after another. I deleted some stuffs from the database manually and I didn’t bother to look at it. That’s so dumb! I know. Well, I thought problem solved. Who knows when things start to get worst. At first all the forums, topics and post were missing. Fine ! I replaced the initial codes and things seems to be fine. Then I tried to click on the links in my forum. DAMN it! Only blank pages.

Till now, I couldn’t find any solution to the problem. I have no choice but to close down the forum for now. I have to wait till Friday cos I’m going back to Seremban. I can’t do anything here cos the 3G connection here sucks ! I’ll have to troubleshoot every single file and match it with the initial one. Without a good connection, I can’t download all my files from my server.

Sigh… I’m off to sleep. I still need to go to college tomorrow.

Two days ago, I wrote to Celcom, complaining to them about my SNAIL-slow 3G connection and the high latency problem which keep getting me Time Out everytime I tried to surf the net and my MSN connection kept being dropped off. Thus, making some of my contacts asking me why am I going on and off. I know it’s pretty annoying when you see your MSN notifier popping in and out, telling you that your contacts came online. I’m sorry but I couldn’t help it, thanks to the connection.

Anyway, those guys at Celcom said they have submitted a ticket for me and will investigate on the matter.

Few minutes ago, I noticed that my static IP has changed. It seems like they have relocated my account to a different gateway. This gateway is located somewhere around Sabah. The one I was using previously was located somewhere in KL. It’s just kinda weird why they relocated a gateway so far away from the place I’m using the connection. I’m in KL by the way.

I ran another test just now. Speed seems to be promising compared to the days before I made the complaint. But then again, the latency is still very high. I still get time out pages intermittently.

Oh well, I’ll trust them again this time. Hopefully, they’ll give me a good explaination of what’s happening. I’ll leave this problem off my mind for now since I’l be going back to Seremban later. At least I still have a decent SLOW-myx connection in Seremban. I think I’ll just forget Celcom 3G till Sunday. Hope everything is settled by then.

I’ve been using Celcom 3G D120 since 2 months ago. I was satisfied with the connection in the first month. Unfortunately, I was not able to enjoy the same quality since 16 Feb 07.

The quality of the line has degraded significantly compared to the first month using it even though my connection shows a 3 bar full on UMTS/3G. My situation is, for the first month I was able to utilise the 3G connection at the rate of 120 -200kpbs DL / 56kpbs UL with the ping time around 56 – 80 ms.

Running 3G connection under the same condition as the past month, I’ve noticed huge degration of quality of the speed. I get a lot ping timeout and transmission of data getting stalled for few seconds, sometimes even for minutes, though i’m still connected to the service.

Knowing this, I ran a similar test on the speed again. The result was outrageous. I’m only able to connect at the speed of 58Kbps DL / 45 Kpbs UL with the ping time around 200 – 1500 ms on a 3 bar full UMTS/3G connection.

My question is what could have caused such significant degration of download speed which is worst than a 56K dial up ? I’m sure it’s not because of the signal as I’m getting the same level of signal. Anyone having the same problem ?

I would appreciate it if someone would point out what’s happening to my connection. Else, I will have to terminate my subscription as I find it unworthy to pay RM120 a month to get Time Out pages all the time.

Just now, I tried the speed test again. The result was 36kbps DL/ 42kpbs UL with 267ms ping time. I wanted to post the image of the test but because of the bad connection, I couldn’t even load the result image page.

Streamyx is a DSL broadband internet service offered by TM Net Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad. Streamyx subscribers make up the bulk of broadband users in Malaysia due to the lack of alternative services from other Malaysian internet service providers, like Jaring, NasionCom and TIME dotNet. Broadband services rolled out by these companies have limited service coverage, because the last mile connections are monopolised by Telekom Malaysia.

Many Streamyx users experience difficulties while surfing the web. Unstable DSLAMs, oversold bandwidth and poor phone line quality that causes high attenuation leads to average speeds between 200kbit/s and 1mbit/s, a fraction of advertised speeds. Recently, TM Net has employed traffic shaping to selectively shape the transfer speeds of P2P services. Bad basic networking infrastructure, management attitude, and the fact that TMnet Sdn. Bhd. (which provides Streamyx ADSL/SDSL service) has a monopoly of Malaysia’s broadband market all lead to an overall bad internet surfing experience for users.

Many users have complained about the poor connection but it has fallen on deaf ears, in part because these users have no choice. Some customers who paid for a particular package were downgraded by TM Net without the consent of the customer while charging the original price the customer ordered. Such miscapping was thought to be gimmick by TM Net to save on its bandwidth. Calling to their customer service via the phone was a hectic process because of the long waiting and pending request from their operators and also technical errors was not being given serious attention until further complaints or umpteen times of recalling back to the station was made.

Dissatisfied customers have branded TM Net into several nicknames such as TM Nut, Total Monopoly Net, Tak Malu/Mampu (unashamed/unable) Net, and many others. Several local forums have already made numerous dissatisfaction threads about TM Net alone. Malaysian online gamers are unable to enjoy a better line when hosting or joining games from other countries compared with other foreign gamers particularly when using services provided by TM Net.

According to many subscribers, TM Net has failed to meet the Quality Of Service Standards set by the MCMC, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission that regulates broadband service provision. It is apparent from the commentaries of members of the Malaysian public that the general quality, speed of the service as well as speed of installation are of concern. TM Net very clearly does not meet the guidelines on the salient issues of network latency (no more than 85ms, 95% of the time during busy hours) and fulfillment of installation orders (100% of installation orders shall be fulfilled within 7 business days).

they are numerous complain, petition has been done but still having the same problem. For further information please visit here :

Finally, I got my my own 3G account. But there was a catch, which was somehow expected.. Only Celcom Postpaid users who also have a Streamyx account can sign up for the D88 plan. Sigh ! I had no choice but to take the D120 package instead. That means I have to pay RM120 per month for the 3G access.

I registered the line today noon and it got activated at around 7pm . The clerk told be it gonna take 24 hours to get my account activated. But instead, it took only 7 hours to get 3G-fied ! LoL . So far, the connection here at my apartment in Setapak Indah is acceptable. I get either 2–3 bar signal.
